St. Joseph’s Eventide Home is more than a care facility — it is a home where the elderly and vulnerable are embraced with dignity, love, and respect. Founded in 1984 in the peaceful village of Ucassaim, Bardez – Goa, our mission is rooted in the compassionate spirit of the Poor Sisters of Our Lady, a registered charitable society under the Society Registration Act, 1860 (Serial No. 413).
For over four decades, we have lovingly sheltered the homeless, the sick, the lonely, and individuals facing physical, emotional, and psychological challenges. Many of our residents come from difficult backgrounds, abandoned by families or struggling with disorders such as Alzheimer’s, schizophrenia, dementia, and more. We offer them a second chance at life — surrounded by care, prayer, and community.
“To promote, preserve, and protect human life and restore the dignity of the oppressed and marginalized.”
Inspired by this mission, we strive to ensure that no one spends their twilight years in pain, isolation, or fear. Here, every resident is treated like family — with warmth in our words, tenderness in our care, and reverence for their life stories.
Over the years, many have come through our doors — broken in body or spirit — and found healing. As we continue to grow in service, we face increasing needs: rising costs of healthcare, upkeep of an aging building, and providing round-the-clock care.
But with your support, we continue to be a beacon of mercy for those at the margins.
St. Joseph’s Eventide Home is operated by the Society of the Poor Sisters of Our Lady, a registered trust under the Society Registration Act, 1860, Serial No. 413. The Society is recognized for its charitable, literary, and scientific purposes under Sections 1 and 20 of the Act.
“Let no one be forgotten in the evening of their life.”
